Buying Now Cheaper Than Renting

"Buying a home in Scotland is now cheaper than renting in a stunning turnaround over the last three years, a study reveals.
The average monthly mortgage for a three-bedroom house last December was £510 - six percent less than the £540 rent for the same property type. In 2008 the averge cost of buying was 47 percent MORE than the average rent.
Bank of Scotland, which carried out the research, said the cost of buying a home has fallen by more than a quarter since 2008.
It added that this has been driven by a 37 per cent decline of £250 in the averge monthly mortgage due to a marked fall in loan rates and house prices."
